LORAIN, Ohio - What was supposed to be a place of eternal rest and peace is now a crime scene.
Someone stole nine mausoleum doors at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.
A woman told a cemetery worker that several doors appeared to be open Friday morning. When the worker took a closer look, he realized they were gone.
The doors are believed to be made of copper or brass. Police said they have been in contact with area scrap yards.
Anyone with information on the mausoleum door thefts is asked to contact police.
