ELYRIA, Ohio - Elyria police are investigating an infant assault, after a baby showed up at a local hospital with a skull fracture.
According to police, the baby's mother and father were at their Melvyn Lane home when the father of the mother's 3-year-old child showed up and got into an argument with the couple.
During the argument, the mother's 21-month-old was wrapped in a blanket on the floor when the child's father got into it with the 3-year-old's dad.
At some point during the altercation, one of the adults stepped on the infant's head.
The mother and father took their baby to a local hospital where it was determined the infant had suffered a slight skull fracture and was later transported to Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center.
The baby is expected to be released to a family member.
So far, no one has been charged.
Elyria police are investigating to determine who stepped on the baby while prosecutors review the case.
Lorain County Children and Family Services has been notified. It's unclear if there have been issues with the three adults involved before this incident.
