ELYRIA, Ohio - Lorain County Emergency Management crews are on scene of a hazmat spill on the Interstate 80/90 Turnpike in Elyria.
According to Lorain County Emergency Management Director Tom Kelley, northbound Exit 145 to State Route 57 is closed as crews work to clean a material spill caused by a leaking truck.
Officials on scene have identified the substance as Hexylene Glycol, a small molecular weight surfactant. According to officials, the material does not pose a threat. Crews originally believed the substance was flammable and called for the Environmental Protection Agency, Lorain Emergency Management Agency and the Elyria Fire Department to respond.
Crews are working to tow the truck involved in the spill.
