ELYRIA, Ohio - The superintendent of Elyria City Schools will announce plans to cut millions of dollars from the district’s budget for the next school year.

The school district on Wednesday told NewsChannel5 that the plan slashes $3 million from the budget for the 2013-14 school year, and will be brought before the school board at a meeting Wednesday night.

The cuts will help keep the district from going into a deficit by 2015, the district said. These changes come following the failure of the November school levy and a decision to not put the levy back on the ballot in May.

These changes will mean drastic cuts across the board, the district said.

Depending how the board takes the superintendent’s plan, it may vote on the cuts at the meeting.
