AVON, Ohio - After a search Wednesday night yielded no results, authorities found the body of a drowning victim in Lake Erie off Miller Road Park Thursday morning.
Avon Lake police said at 7:30 a.m, they responded to a call from security personnel at Genon Power Plant for a body floating in the water. Fire and police located a man about 20 yards into the water near the power plant discharge area. The victim's body was recovered and brought to shore.
The Lorain County Coroner's Office identified the drowning victim as 23-year-old Anthony Norman of Bristolville, Ohio.
Avon Lake police and fire crews were called to Miller Road Park at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday, and remained on scene for three hours.
Officers said they located five men in the water who told them that another man was missing in the water. The last point the victim Norman was reportedly seen was between the north breakwall and westernmost dangerous condition sign.
Norman's death remains under investigation.
