AVON, Ohio - Police are investigating alleged child abuse at the YMCA in Avon, the recreation center said.

Members of the French Creek Family YMCA were notified on Wednesday of the incident involving a child. The letter to members said they are helping Avon police and child protective services during the investigation.

“Most importantly, we also want to assure you that the safety and security of all our members is our top concern, especially the children which you entrust us to care for,” the letter said.

The Avon Police Department will only confirm they are investigating an allegation of abuse. A call summary report from Avon police shows the allegation came in on Tuesday, January 15, at 1:37 p.m.
