ELYRIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Alcohol and drug use is a suspected factor in a one-car crash that left a man dead in Elyria Township at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The Elyria Highway Patrol Post said 47-year-old Michael Lazorcak, of Elyria, was headed westbound on Albrecht Road, west of West Ridge Road, when he drove his 2000 Chevy Malibu off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
They said Lazorcak was partially ejected out of his driver’s side door.
Lazorcak was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Elyria Memorial Hospital by Great Lakes Ambulance Service, according to troopers.
Troopers said Lazorcak also was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
