LORAIN, Ohio - A 20-year-old father who left his 3-year-old daughter in a car following a crash is now behind bars.
According to Lorain Police, Mikail Rodriguez, 20, of Lorain was speeding when he caught the eye of Amherst Police patrols. Officers attempted to pull him over, but Rodriguez took off north on SR 58.
A police chase ensued hitting speeds of 70 mph. Lorain Police also joined the pursuit.
Rodriguez eventually crashed his vehicle at 3901 Levitt Road and fled the scene, leaving four injured passengers including his 3-year-old daughter and her mother behind.
Rodriguez was tracked down by police and a K-9 officer hiding in some nearby bushes.
Rodriquez appeared intoxicated and was arrested. He was charged with child endangering, driving under suspension, driving under the influence, underage consumption , fleeing the scene of an accident, protection order violation, obstructing official business, failure to control and driving while intoxicated.
None of the passengers cooperated with police. The three adults including the child's mother lied about knowing who the driver was and were transported to local hospitals where they were treated and later hauled off to the Lorain County Jail for various offenses.
The child's condition and whereabouts now are unknown at this time.
