AVON, Ohio - The MAC Baseball tournament has returned to Lorain County for a second year. Fans are pouring into All Pro Freight Stadium from across the Midwest.
It's providing a positive economic effect on the local community. The tournament will be here for through the weekend. Crowds were thin Wednesday night due to weather, but those attending were buying food from the concession stand and souvenirs to support their favorite team.
"We’re putting people in the stands, we're buying tickets, we're buying hot dogs and sodas and things like that, parking. All of those things, it's just one more group of things coming to the community. You're in close proximity to a large number of hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues. A whole host of things that our student athletes, our fans, and all the folks that come in for this can take advantage of," said Jon Steinbreher, Commissioner of the Mid-America Conference.
Kent State won the tournament last year and they hope to repeat this year, bringing large crowds for the remainder of the tournament.
