AVON, Ohio - You don't have to wait until the summer to grow your favorite vegetable or flowers during these cold winter months.

Steve Hadgis has always tinkered with hydroponics. Finally, his dream came true. In July 2011, Purely Hydroponic opened up for business. It is located in Avon.

In a nut shell, hydroponics is growing flowers and vegetables in soil or in a soilless environment. The root system needs something to anchor to.

You don't need much room and for as little as a couple of hundred dollars, Purely Hydroponic can set you up with a nice little growing area. If you want a more elaborate setup, he can help you design a system that will be the envy of your neighbors.

A lot of people shy away from hydroponics because they think you have to manage the pH and other parts of the system. If you ask Hadgis, he says it is very simple -- and not to be intimidated.

With a little bit of time and effort and not much of an investment, you can enjoy gardening all year around.
