Boy in Avon Lake flown by Lifeflight after being hit by car

AVON LAKE, Ohio - Avon Lake police said a 9-year-old-boy was flown to a local hospital by Lifeflight after being hit by a car Tuesday afternoon on Deer Run Lane.

The boy was playing with other children just after noon when police said he chased a ball into the street and was hit.

He was taken to the Avon Lake Fire Department, and transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Police also said the driver of the car that hit him was a 53-year-old Avon Lake resident.

The boy's injuries are said to be serious. The crash is under investigation.
