ELYRIA, Ohio - The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Patrol is investigating a crash at the Elyria Boys and Girls Club that was a result of a police chase.
Early Wednesday morning, police were told to be on the lookout for a gray Dodge Stratus that was involved in an assault in Elyria. Troopers said the car was stolen and the driver was under the influence.
A state trooper spotted a car that fit the description of the stolen car and attempted to stop it with the help of Elyria police.
The highway patrol said the car quickly drove away and led the police on a one-mile chase down Middle Avenue before the driver lost control. The car then struck several pieces of playground equipment at the Boys and Girls Club.
The driver and passenger were both injured and were taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital. They have not yet been charged.
Nobody was in the Boys and Girls Club at the time of the crash.
Troopers said alcohol and speeding may have contributed to the crash.
