HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A 29-year-old Lorain County man is dead after hitting a buck which sent the animal through his windshield.

The crash happened Wednesday at 12:20 a.m. on Baumhart Road south of Russia Road in New Russia Township.

State troopers said Robert Trimble, 29, was driving northbound on Baumhart Road when a buck jumped out in front of him. The impact sent the deer flying through the windshield and onto Trimble's upper torso, according to authorities.

Trimble's truck then veered off the road, hitting a mailbox and rock. The Ford F-150 came to a stop in a yard.

Trimble, who worked at Ford Motor Company's Avon Lake Chapter, was rushed to a nearby hospital and later taken by helicopter to Cleveland Metro where he died.

The Elyria Post of the State Highway Patrol said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the fatal crash.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Trimble leaves behind his wife of 4 years.
