A teen was charged with inducing panic after Mentor police traced a threatening Facebook comment toward Mentor High School back to the 17-year-old boy.
The Mentor Police Department received information shortly before midnight on Sept. 15 about a threatening comment toward Mentor High School that was posted on Facebook.
The comment was posted on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Police said the department began investigating the threat and identified the 17-year-old boy, who is not a student at Mentor High School.
On Sept. 16, police responded to the teen’s residence and detained him.
After further investigation, the teen was charged with inducing panic and was taken to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.
