WILLOUGHBY, Ohio - A CVS Pharmacy robbery led to a police chase in Willoughby and ended with a crash that sent the suspect to the hospital.

It happened around 2 a.m. at the CVS on Som Center Road.

"I work at the CVS at the corner of 91 and Maplegrove and a man just attempted to attack me with a knife. He just ran into the parking lot," the frantic cashier told a 911 dispatcher.

The 21-year-old victim then described the robber to authorities and advised she was OK.

"He just cut my hand, but there's no serious injury," the victim said.

Coworkers told police they followed the robber out of the store and saw him take off in a dark green Ford Escort towards Willoughby Hills.

Police there spotted the car in question on River Road and tried to pull the driver over. Authorities said the driver, Albert Rose, led them on a chase that ended in a crash.

The 57-year-old Cleveland man was ejected from his vehicle. He was then taken to a nearby hospital.

Police said they found a knife on Rose and clothing similar to that worn during the CVS robbery.

In the surveillance video, you can see Rose wave to the cashier, grab cough syrup, bring it to the counter and mumble something before grabbing the cashier and knocking her down at knifepoint, police said.

The cashier was treated at the scene by the Willoughby Fire Department for the cut on her hand.

Rose is facing charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault. Warrants for Rose's arrest have been issued and will be served when he is released from the hospital.
