EASTLAKE, Ohio - Eastlake police said they found an empty bottle of vodka next to the car of a woman who was arrested for DUI.
Police said they responded to a three-car crash Thursday night at the intersection of Lakeland Boulevard and East 337th Street where two of the cars were in the intersection and one was facing westbound in a grassy area.
Drivers told officers that two vehicles going eastbound were at a stop, waiting to make a left turn on East 337th Street when one was hit from behind, pushing it into a second car. A witness said the vehicle at fault then backed up and turned around before driving off the right side of the westbound road, up onto the curve then grass and through the fence on the north side of Lakeland, according to police.
They said an empty half-gallon of vodka was directly outside of the driver’s door.
Police arrested 26-year-old Elizabeth Remp, of Eastlake, who was charged with DUI and assuring clear distance. After investigating, they said they learned the woman had an upcoming appearance scheduled in Euclid Municipal Court for a DUI charge.
Police said the woman’s blood alcohol content was .182.
