LAKE CO., Ohio - Police are urging residents to remove window air conditioning units as home break-ins continue to increase throughout Lake County.
Officers with the Eastlake and Willoughby police departments reported seeing an increase in burglaries where thieves entered homes by pushing in or removing window-mounted air conditioning units.
In Eastlake, police said these types of home invasions are happening during the day.
With temperatures cooling, officers now encourage residents to remove window air conditioners that are no longer in use and lock all windows and doors when leaving home.
Anyone with information on the string of break-ins throughout Lake County is asked to call the Eastlake Police Department at (440) 951-1400 or the Willoughby Police Department at (440) 953-4212.
