CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A man is under arrest after police say he robbed an 80-year-old Concord Township woman’s home.
Police said Carol Prideaux reported Wednesday that family heirlooms, a silver tea pot and sterling silver cigarette case from the 1700s, items she called “priceless,” had been stolen from her home.
The son of one of Prideaux’s caretakers, Michael Bertone, was identified as a suspect by police. In interviews with officers, Bertone admitted to stealing jewelry and other silver flatware from the home and then selling it to Ohio Gold and Coin on Richmond Street.
Bertone said he took the items about a week and half prior to selling them on Jan. 31. He further admitted he robbed the home while his mother was taking care of Prideaux.
Bertone was arrested and booked into Lake County Jail on one count of Theft.
