PAINESVILLE, Ohio - A 21-year-old Painesville woman was arrested after police say she tried to kill her baby.
Painesville police said they were called to Mentor Avenue at about 1:49 p.m. Sunday for a complaint of child abuse. Officers discovered that the woman tried to suffocate her 4-week-old son with a pillow, according to the police department.
The boy was not injured and the mother was taken to Tri-Point Medical Center.
On Thursday, police arrested the woman, who was released from MetroHealth Medical Center.
The mother was charged with attempted murder and domestic violence. She is being held without bond. Her arraignment is set for Friday in Painesville Municipal Court.
The Painesville Police Department is not releasing the young mother’s name.
