MENTOR, Ohio - OnStar, the vehicle safety, navigation and communication system, helped solve an OVI hit-skip in Mentor over the weekend.
On Friday, witnesses reported a crash at Rt. 306 and Smokey Bones to police. But before authorities got there, one of the cars involved, a black Cadillac Escalade, took off, witnesses said.
Dispatchers worked with OnStar and located the Cadillac in Willowick. Police said the driver, a 56-year-old man, was "obviously intoxicated" and was then arrested for OVI and hit-skip.
Police said no one was injured in the crash, but both vehicles were extensively damaged.
