WICKLIFFE, Ohio - The 12th annual Diocese of Cleveland Family Festival, otherwise known as The Fest, will be held at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe, Ohio, on Aug. 5. The free one-day event is expected to attract more than 38,000 from all over northeast Ohio.
“When we started the FEST in 2000, we wanted to create a day that was truly good and free for families in our region. That’s where we began and that that’s the spirit that makes the FEST great today. It’s truly a free, inspiring family day that brings joy and peace and hope to our region,” said organizer Fr. Bob Stec.
The FEST 2012 will feature Christian music from some of the biggest bands in the business, including Christian rock radio favorite, Switchfoot.
The highlight of the day will be an outdoor mass at 8 p.m. following the music.
Entertainment, contests, and giveaways will also be at The FEST this year. Festival goers can enjoy games, BMX shows, kids areas, prayer stations, a new mom’s relaxation station, large amphitheater and festival food and vendors. The festival will conclude with an American Fireworks display.
“The best part of The FEST is seeing families and youth all getting together to share an amazing experience,” said Stec. “It’s not every day you get to see huge bands like Switchfoot for free and spend the day with thousands of other family-minded people.”
This year, Notre Dame College is also giving away a $40,000 scholarship at the FEST. The scholarship can only be used for a full-time undergraduate student who is granted admission to Notre Dame College. Notre Dame College will be awarding a four year $10,000 per year scholarship to a high school junior or senior who attends the college over the next few years. It is in honor of its 90th anniversary. Registration will take place The Fest and the drawing will take place at 7:45 Sunday evening.
“We’ve been listening to feedback to improve the festival every year,” said Stec. “This year is going to be one to remember."
The FEST is a free, one day Catholic family festival held every year at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe, Ohio.
