MENTOR, Oh. - Some neighbors in Mentor came to the rescue during a house fire Monday night.
The Mentor fire department arrived at the scene in the 7300 block of Taft Street around 7 p.m. after neighbors reported smoke coming from the two-story house.
One neighbor, who saw a dog sitting in the front window, said he broke the front window to rescue it.
The house appeared to have heavy smoke damage on the inside, but no flames or damage were visible from the outside.
No one appeared to be inside the house at the time and no injuries were reported. The fire was under control by 8:30 p.m.
Although the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time, the Mentor Fire Chief on scene said he believed the fire started somewhere in the kitchen.
