EASTLAKE, Ohio - The man suspected of robbing four banks across Lake County was arrested on Tuesday.
On May 19, the Dollar Bank in Eastlake was robbed and officers started searching for 40-year-old John L. Caputo, according to Eastlake police.
Wickliffe police said Caputo robbed the Chase Bank on Euclid Avenue on May 17. The Wickliffe Police Department added that he is suspected of robbing banks in Willowick and Willoughby. Caputo was also wanted by Cleveland police for the robbery of a Chase Bank on May 8.
On Tuesday, Eastlake police were contacted by a man who said he was Caputo’s attorney. Eastlake police said the attorney wanted to negotiate Caputo’s surrender. Caputo was taken into police custody without incident in the empty city lot at state Route 91 and Vine Street, police said.
No weapon was seen during any of the robberies, but police said Caputo should be considered armed and dangerous. Caputo has prior addresses in Willowick, Eastlake, Cleveland and Florida, Wickliffe police said.
Eastlake police notified the other agencies looking for Caputo.
