PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A man is in critical condition after trying to break up a fight outside a Painesville Township bar.
At about 1:32 a.m. on Sunday, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Harry Buffalo on Mentor Avenue. Witnesses said a verbal argument turned physical inside the bar and spilled into the parking lot.
According to deputies, 27-year-old Jeremy Blanchette had just arrived at the bar with two friends and saw the large fight in progress. He tried to intervene, but was knocked to the ground.
Blanchette was unresponsive when deputies arrived and was taken to Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township by paramedics. Deputies said he was bleeding from his head and had other serious injuries. He was later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
Several other men suffered minor injuries during the fight as well.
The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office detective bureau at 440-350-5521.
