MENTOR, Ohio - A man and his girlfriend in Mentor were each arrested on back-to-back drunken driving charges with their young child in the car.
The police reports showed the couple was arrested on consecutive days. Both were seen by police driving erratically, getting off Route 2 and onto Route 306.
Mentor police received a 911 call Sunday about a Jeep hitting the center median -- and backing into a car on the off-ramp.
The driver pulled into the Studio Six hotel, where police later found Rostislav Ryanzanskiy, his girlfriend and their 4-month-old.
Police said the 24-year-old man failed field sobriety tests, admitted to using heroin that day and was arrested. His girlfriend was unconscious.
"The father was taken to jail, the mother was taken to the hospital," said Lt. Ken Gunsch with the Mentor Police Department.
The baby was given to a family member for the night.
The next night, police spotted the same Jeep, swerving all over Route 306. The Jeep pulled into the Studio Six hotel.
The driver was the same woman from the night before -- 28-year-old Ashley A. Korb.
“She was again obviously impaired. The officer had no doubt about that. She refused to go out to the hospital and she was arrested,” said Gunsch.
She had the same baby in the car.
"It's horrible that they are putting that child in that position," Gunsch said.
Now, the mother and father of a 4-month-old little boy are facing OVI and child endangering charges.
"They just have a litany of charges against them and in a two-day period. It just came to a head,” Gunsch said.
The 4-month-old is now in custody of the Lake County Children and Family Services.
