LAKE COUNTY - The CCW office at the Lake County Sheriff's Department has been overwhelmed by the number of applicants and renewals. So, they're implementing a scheduling program to handle the demand.
On Monday, the agency had to stop taking applicants by 1:30 p.m. due to an "overwhelming number beyond our capacity."
More than 100 people were at the door wanting to apply or renew their permit on Monday.
"Within the week, we will initiate a scheduling program where you will be able to register ahead of time to schedule your application interview or renewal," said a post on the department's Facebook page.
Until the schedule comes out, the sheriff's department will operate on a first come, first serve basis, with the number of applicants closed at 60 each day.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but the present numbers we are experiencing are exceeding our ability to process them in a single day."
