COLUMBUS, Ohio - The state champion Kirtland Hornets were honored for their winning season at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus Tuesday.
State Sen. John Eklund (R-Munson Township) presented a senate resolution to the football team, which finished its season with a 15-0 record.
Kirtland defeated Coldwater Dec. 2 in the Division V State Championship game in Massillon.
“These young men have proven to be extraordinary on both the gridiron and inside the classroom,” Eklund said. “Their accomplishments and character are truly worthy of commendation.”
This was Kirtland High School’s first-ever championship for football.
