EASTLAKE, Ohio - A 10-year-old boy and his friend, 12, face criminal charges after being arrested for allegedly stealing a pick axe in Eastlake.

Eastlake police posted on the department’s Facebook page that the boys cut stole and stored the axe near the 10-year-old’s home .

Eastlake police charged the 10-year-old boy with theft. His 12-year-old friend was charged with complicity.

Just one week prior, officers said the boys had been arrested and referred to the department’s Juvenile Diversion Program for stealing an iPhone on June 3.

Because this is not the boys’ first offense, police said their charges will be referred to Eastlake Juvenile Court.

The arrest comes one week after Eastlake police arrested two other boys , ages 11 and 15, for theft of a bicycle.
