MENTOR, Ohio - Retailers at Great Lakes Mall saw a double-digit increase in traffic compared to last year.
"People spent more money this year and we saw higher purchases on smaller items," said Renee Lanzara, Director of Marketing at Great Lakes Mall. "Jewelry did really well as did gift items and it was a big year for apparel as well."
Cyber Monday does affect sales, however, people still like to shop at their local retailers. FedEx and UPS have seen an increase in deliveries over 2010.
"Small businesses like Burger Ace Hardware started off slow on Friday, due to early hours at other stores, but overall they hung in there. Saturday is what they consider small business Saturday and the community supported us really well and we were really pleased with Saturday. It was probably the best day customer count we ever had," said Greg Burger, Owner of Burger's Ace Hardware in Mentor.
And there are still 26 shopping days left until Christmas, which means there's plenty of time for you to spend money and for businesses to make it.
