EASTLAKE, Ohio - Eastlake police officers arrested a man who they say was so drunk he not only was talking to tobacco bags and swearing at them, he also confessed his love to a urinal.
It all started last Saturday when police were called to try and get an apparent drunken man under control at the Tobacco Store on Vine Street around 4:45 p.m.
Police were told that the man was talking to bags of tobacco and swearing. When authorities arrived, they saw the man standing at the end of an aisle propping himself against the shelf.
According to police, it appeared the man was trying to have a conversation with a bottle of vodka and with a customer who was standing in line. Officers said the man's speech was slurred, "his thoughts were confused and random and the conversation that he tried to convey between the bottle of vodka and the customer made no sense and was unintelligible."
Police arrested the 51-year-old for disorderly conduct and placed him in a jail holding cell to sober up. During that stay, authorities said the man began confessing his love for a urinal.
Kenneth Kulas, 50, has been charged with disorderly conduct/intoxication. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday morning.
