EASTLAKE, Ohio - For the past five years, the Eastlake police and fire departments, the Police Athletic League, employees of the city, and the community, have ramped up efforts to give families in need an extra special Christmas. Times are difficult and those in the Eastlake community wanted to help by providing gifts for the children and a Christmas dinner for their families.
Last year, they were able to give over 100 children, up to age 18, gifts and stocking stuffers, and provide 50 families with a full ham or turkey dinner.
All of the funding received is thanks to donations from the community, along with volunteers who collected donations at the Walmart in Eastlake.
Donations will be accepted through Dec. 14. If you'd like to be involved in the giving, contact the Eastlake police department at 440-951-1400.
