EASTLAKE, Ohio - An man is in police custody after officers say he climbed onto the roof of an Eastlake home and attempted to break in.
Dustin Wikinson, 29, is charged with felony attempted burglary. He is being held without bound and will be arraigned Wednesday.
Eastlake police reported to a home in the 400 block of East Overlook just before 4 p.m. Tuesday for a burglary in progress, according to the police department.
Pre-teen children home at the time called police when they said they saw a man climbing on their roof, trying to break in through the master bedroom window.
When officers arrived at the scene, they said a man ran into a wooded area behind the home. Eastlake police, along with help from the Willoughby police department, searched the woods but couldn't find the man.
A resident told officers the man may have boarded a LakeTran bus traveling to Mentor.
In Mentor, police learned Wilkinson left the bus at a McDonald's. Eastlake police took Wikinson into custody with the help of Mentor police.
