MENTOR, Ohio - The Mentor Police Department and local law enforcement from the surrounding areas have invited the public to Law Day on Saturday at the Great Lakes Mall .
Officers from Eastlake, Kirtland Hills, Lake Metroparks, Wickliffe and Willoughby, as well as the Lake County General Health District and Crossroads will participate.
According to organizers, this will give residents in those cities an opportunity to meet with police in an unofficial capacity and see that there are regular people behind the badges.
With prom season in full bloom, a Mentor police spokesperson said they feel it is necessary to talk about the upcoming "Click It or Ticket" campaign encouraging drivers to buckle up.
The festivities will start Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Macy’s concourse. The first event will be a demonstration from the Kang Do Won Martial Arts Institute. There will be other entertainment as well, including a ventriloquist.
The event is free for the public.
