MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A mother and her son have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 77-year-old woman, whose body was hidden in her Madison Township home.
According to a news release from Madison police, around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, someone called concerned with the well-being of the woman and officers went to check on her at her Canterbury Drive home.
When officers arrived, they found the home had been ransacked, the woman and her car missing.
The Madison Township Police Department sent out a statewide alert through the Attorney General’s Office.
That alert was received by the Euclid Police Department who had stopped a vehicle earlier in the day with a man and woman inside along with property from the Madison Township home.
The body of the woman was then found hidden inside her home. Madison Township officers arrested the suspects and transported them from the Euclid Police Department to the Lake County Jail.
The mother and son suspects, Danna Weimer, 54, and Zack Weimer, 22, were charged with murder at their arraignment in Painesville Municipal Court later Thursday morning.
The woman’s 1995 Plymouth Voyager with Ohio license plate BV81VT has not been located.
The Madison Township Police Department is asking anyone who sees the vehicle to contact them.
