PRAIRIE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Wooster man was killed and two others injured after a head-on crash in Holmes County Monday afternoon that closed a major road for hours.
The collision happened at about 2:40 p.m. on State Route 83 in Prairie Township, just north of Township Road 576.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 25-year-old Kevin Browning of Wooster drove his Nissan Maxima across the center line around a curve, striking a pickup truck head-on that was driven by 63-year-old Richard Schalmo of Shreve.
Troopers said Browning died at the scene. Schalmo and his passenger, 60-year-old Mary Jo Schalmo, were transported to local hospitals. There’s no word yet on their conditions.
SR 83 was closed for about 2.5 hours while crews investigated and cleared the scene.
