CHARDON, Ohio - Tens of thousands of people across the region and around the world are wearing red Tuesday in support of Chardon High School after a shooting left two students dead and three others hospitalized.
The effort was started on Facebook Monday night by Logan Molnar, and nearly 30,000 users said they would participate in the event. It’s not clear whether Molnar is a student at Chardon High School.
Word spread quickly across the region and many students at local schools, like Mentor and Aurora, made an effort to wear red.
Dozens of comments were posted on the event page.
“Wearing red in remembrance of precious lives lost and praying for the families who lost their dear children, praying for the family of the shooter & for the shooter himself, praying for the many lives in Chardon who are grief stricken. So many lives have been devastated due to this horrible tragedy,” wrote Charlene Henico.
Joeanne Malley Miller wrote, “Wearing red in Mayfield Hts. Praying that others who are struggling get help.”
“Wearing red in South Bend, IN,” wrote Lauren Flocken.
Joseph Radman Kosch posted, “The entire Lake Erie College Public Relations team is wearing red today.”
