Tattoo artist helps Chardon students heal from school shooting

CHARDON, Ohio - Many people and organizations have been helping teenagers in Chardon cope with the school shooting that took place one year ago Wednesday. 

One of those people is doing it with ink and a needle.

Inside Square City Tattoo, Chris Klee leaves his mark on people, including many Chardon students over the past year. 

"Everybody had the same element involved. They used the date. The ‘One heartbeat’ slogan was used a lot so we're just modeling everything off of the same thing. Ribbons as well with the heart in it," Klee said while inking a customer.

Square City Tattoo is a little place where Chardon teens were able to let off a lot of steam.

"They were using the art as a form of venting. You know, their anger, frustration that was going on. It made us feel really special that we were able to help them out," Klee said.

Those tattoos have helped them out from the darkest day in Chardon history and helped them look forward to the sunny days ahead.

"They're ready to be done with their grieving and see, you know, see that chapter kind of close. We all want to move on as much as we possibly can. It's obviously something you can't forget about, but we'd love to sit back and relax and talk about something else right now," Klee said.
