CHARDON, Ohio - Scanner traffic from area law enforcement reveals the hunt for the shooter, victims, and the need for securing the school following a deadly shooting at Chardon High.
It was 7:51 a.m. Monday, when a dispatcher from Chardon Fire Department sends an urgent message out on the scanner.
"We have active fire at the high school. We have three students down in the cafeteria at this time. We still don't know where the shooter is."
Several seconds later, the dispatcher learns there's more.
"Also, there's a fourth person down in room 200...I need all available command to the station...They're requesting assistance as soon as possible. I know you're doing what you can."

Minutes later, EMS arrives at the school, where they first find the victims in the cafeteria.
"In room 200, one victim, two shots."
About 20 minutes after EMS responds to help, all but one victim is en route to hospitals via helicopter. The final victim is reported to be in stable condition and driven to Hillcrest Hospital.
Traffic on scanners at the Geauga County Sheriff's Department describes a similar scene.
"Active shooter at Chardon High School. Multiple victims. Shooter was seen running past the tennis courts," a dispatcher said.
Deputies arrived and followed footprints in the snow, where a garbage truck driver said he saw a teen in a gray sweatshirt walking. Shortly after, deputies found a pair of shoes in the school parking lot.

Following a 30 minute search of the area, and tracking footprints in the snow, deputies caught up to the suspect, Thomas "T.J." Lane, 17, and arrested him on Woodin Road.
Scanner traffic noted they also found the handgun allegedly used in the shooting spree, along with a knife.
Authorities then blocked the doors to the school, saying "no one comes in or leaves this way." Once the area was secured, parents began lining the walkway to the building to pick up their kids.
At a noon news conference, authorities announced one of the five victims, Daniel Parmertor, 16, died at an area hospital. Names of the other four victims have not been released.
The shooter has been identified as 17-year-old TJ Lane.
