CHARDON, Ohio - Ohio Gov. John Kasich has ordered that the flags at the Ohio Statehouse be flown at half-staff in honor of the Chardon High School student who was killed during the school shooting.
Daniel Parmertor, 16, died at MetroHealth Medical Center after being shot Monday morning. He was a junior at Chardon High School and Auburn Career Center.
"Ohio grieves today with the Parmertor family for the tragic loss of their son and brother Danny. It may seem like we're powerless to reach them right now, but the power of our prayer is great and the Lord is reaching out to them now in ways we cannot fathom. I urge all Ohioans to join me in lifting up this family, the other wounded students and their families and the entire Chardon community at this difficult time,” the governor said in a statement Monday evening.
Kasich also ordered that flags in Geauga County also be flown at half-staff. At about 5 p.m. Monday, the American flag in Chardon Sqaure had already been lowered.
Four other students were injured during the shooting and the suspect turned himself in.
