NEWBURY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Deputies in Geauga County are investigating after a man was found dead with a small hole in his head.
Investigations received the call Dec. 27 at about 9:45 a.m. from a house on Ravenna Road in Newbury Township.
Lt. John Hiscox with the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office told NewsChannel5 that someone discovered the 53-year-old man unresponsive in his bed and called 911. The callers stayed on the phone with police and administered CPR, but firefighters pronounced him dead once they arrived at the scene.
Hiscox said a small hole was found in the man’s head. He said it’s believed to be a gunshot wound, but they’re waiting for the coroner’s report to come back.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Randy Scheffield.
