MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio - The Geauga County Sheriff said patrols will be increased in Middlefield after the department got word of two men driving a dark colored pickup truck asking Amish children for directions.
Residents asked the department for the increase in police presence after children were approached while walking home from school.
Reports indicate the men in the truck have stopped different children on multiple occasions asking for directions and even tried to give them money.
"That is a red flag. That's clearly not the norm when adults approach children for help. Adults approach adults for
help," said Sheriff Dan McClelland.
Bundysburg Road south of Route 87 will see more cruisers from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
