CHARDON, Ohio - Chardon High School shooter TJ Lane has been moved to a state prison facility, one day after he was sentenced to life.

The Geauga County sheriff said Lane was moved out of the county sometime on Wednesday.

Lane was taken to the Lorain Correctional Institution in Grafton, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

He has since been moved again. The ODRC released this statement Thursday morning:
"Inmate Lane has been transferred to the Correctional Reception Center in Orient where he will continue the reception process."

A judge sentenced Lane to three life terms without paroloe Tuesday for the murders of three people during a shooting rampage at Chardon High School on Feb. 27, 2012.

During his hearing, Lane made a brief statement in which he gave the middle finger and spoke profanely toward the victims’ families. Lane also took off his button-down shirt at the start of the hearing, revealing a T-shirt with the word “KILLER” handwritten on it.

The judge said he did not see the shirt. He issued this statement Wednesday:
"Except when the judge entered the courtroom the defendant was seated for the entire sentencing.

"The court was unaware of the shirt. The court did not notice the shirt.

"Had the court noticed the shirt, the court would have immediately stopped the proceedings, adjourned the court and the court would have ordered the defendant to put on proper attire.

"However dissgusting (sic) it may be, the defendant has a right to make a statement at sentencing."

Lane pleaded guilty to the murder charges, thwarting a trial.
