BURTON, Ohio - From Streetsboro to Bedford Heights to Solon, black bear sightings have been the talk of northeast Ohio for weeks.
On Wednesday, a black bear was spotted in Burton in Geagua County, Lt. John Hiscox said. At about 2 p.m. the bear was in a yard on Aquila Road before it went into the woods.
A black bear in Bedford Heights, nicknamed the Bedford Bear, spent several hours in a tree near Rockside Road at the beginning of this month. Police estimated the bear was a year to 2 years old, weighed 150 pounds and was about 5 feet tall.
That same week, a resident in Solon snapped photos of a black bear running down Louise Drive.
Beginning in May, Streetsboro police were warning residents about a black bear that had been reported near Navajo Trail, Pike Parkway and the Ohio Turnpike.
