SANDUSKY TWP., Ohio - A man was killed and woman hurt when a semi and pickup truck collided at the intersection of US 20 and County Road 128 in Sandusky Township early Tuesday morning.
Troopers said Russell Lucas, 53, of Monroe, Michigan, was driving a 2012 Freightliner Commercial Semi Truck going westbound on US 20 approaching the intersection of County Road 128.
Donald Magers, 30, of Fremont, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck with Shannon McGrew, 29, of Rocky Ridge, a passenger in the front seat.
The incident happened, troopers said, when Magers, traveling southbound on County Road 128, ran the stop sign posted at the intersection of US 20 and hit the semi driven by Lucas.
Both Magers and McGrew were ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Magers was pronounced dead at the scene.
McGrew was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital and was later flown to Toledo Saint Vincent’s Hospital
Lucas was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Fire Department and EMS, the Lindsey Fire Department, and ODOT.
US 20 westbound remains closed at this time and a detour has been set up by ODOT.
