SANDUSKY, Ohio - The partial skeleton found by two boys on a breakwall near Cedar Point last month has been identified as a missing boater.

The remains were found along Lake Erie not far from where the boat crashed last October, police said. According to the Erie County Coroner’s office, the body is missing Solon man, 58-year-old Charles Kaplan.

Cedar Point workers spotted the boat capsize just after noon on Sunday, Oct. 23.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the body of Kaplan’s girlfriend, Pam Holstein, 58, of Solon, was found inside the 36-foot Rinker. After that discovery, authorities continued to look for Kaplan during a 12-hour, 120 square-mile search.

The Coast Guard said the couple had children together.
