SANDUSKY, Ohio - A man is facing murder charges after a 3-year-old Sandusky boy died Monday night.
Sandusky police said the boy was taken to Firelands Hospital from an apartment on Fulton Street at about 7:25 p.m.
Police were told 3-year-old Owen Barker tripped and hit his head on a plastic toy, but the injuries on his head, neck and back didn’t fit the story. Owen died at the hospital.
Michael Milner, 24, of Sandusky, was caring for the toddler at the time, police said. He was charged with child endangering and booked at the Erie County Jail.
On Tuesday, the Lucas County Coroner’s Officer ruled the boy’s death a homicide following an autopsy, police said. Milner has since been charged with felonious assault and murder.
Sandusky police did not say what Milner's relationship is to the child.
