SANDUSKY, Ohio - Cedar Point has begun recruiting for 2013 and will host its first open interview session Friday at Castaway Bay.

The amusement park has seen applicants from all over the country. And while the majority of applicants are still from Ohio and Michigan, the demographic is changing.

"We're seeing more applications from older adults and senior citizens," explained marketing representative Annie Zelm.

The park is looking for at least 5,000 seasonal employees who want to play where they work and give each guest a memorable experience this summer.

“Our staff often give guests their first impressions of the park, and those are lasting impressions that can really impact their entire day,” human resources manager Pamela Romo said. “That’s why it’s crucial for us to hire people with the right attitude. If they have a great work ethic and a dynamic personality, they will make sure our guests have their best day of the summer here at Cedar Point, which is our ultimate goal.”

There are more than 70 types of jobs available: food service, games and merchandise, hotels, maintenance, park operations and safety/security.

In 2012, Cedar Point received approximately 22,000 applications from 49 of the 50 states and dozens of countries.

As a worker at Cedar Point, you will be granted unlimited access to both the rides and water park. New this year is more flexible scheduling, developmental training for first-time workers, rewards for returning employees and more. All employees also get the opportunity to participate in intramural sports and bus trips to popular travel destinations. Officials at Cedar Point said they can even earn college credit and work their way into management positions.

You can apply for a job online at cedarpoint.com/jobs.

The following interview sessions are scheduled at Castaway Bay, 2001 Cleveland Rd. in Sandusky:
- 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8
- 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 15
