SANDUSKY, Ohio - Amusement park operator Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. says its push to increase season pass sales paid off last year.
The company whose parks include Cedar Point and Kings Island in Ohio said Tuesday that it sold a record number of season passes last year.
It says season pass visitors made up about 40 percent of its total attendance in 2012.
The company with headquarters in Sandusky says overall attendance nationwide fell just short of its record 23 million visitors set last year.
It also says guests spent more money on food, games and souvenirs in the parks -- but spending was down at its hotels.
Cedar Fair owns more than a dozen amusement parks and water parks around the country, along with a handful of hotels.
