NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio - The woman killed in a three-car crash on Boston Road in North Royalton has been identified.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said 60-year-old Susan Whelchel, of Medina, died in accident that happened at about 5:32 p.m. on Thursday.

A car stopped on Boston Road to turn onto Queensbridge Lane, but the truck behind it didn’t see it. North Royalton Sgt. David Centner said the truck swerved to go around the stopped car and ended up hitting it, along with a westbound car.

Whelchel was the passenger in the westbound car. The driver of that vehicle was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center after a medical helicopter landed on a nearby golf course.

The driver of the pick-up truck was taken to Southwest General Health Center.
