SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - Turkey sandwiches, greeting cards and beer landed a woman in jail on Thursday.
South Euclid police said Shannan J. Preston, 42, was arrested after stealing five turkey sandwiches and 37 greeting cards from Giant Eagle.
Police said Preston has multiple theft and robbery convictions, and was previously told by officers not to return to the grocery store.
During questioning police said Preston claimed to have consumed several large cans of Milwaukee Best Ice beer, and blamed it for clouding her judgment.
Preston was taken to the South Euclid jail on charges of theft and criminal trespassing. She has since been released. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 21 for a pretrial hearing.
